FuboTV doubles on streaming tie-up with Disney
Disney is joining forces with FuboTV to bolster their live-TV streaming product offerings, confirming earlier reports.
The joint venture will be 30% owned by Fubo with the remainder held by the Mickey Mouse creator, and the combined business will trade under the FUBO ticker. Both Hulu + Live TV and Fubo will remain as separate offerings upon the closing of this deal.
Shares of Fubo are up more than 150% in premarket. Disney’s stock is trading modestly to the upside.
Disney is providing a term loan to Fubo, as well as access to its sports broadcast lineup, as part of this transaction. In addition, to facilitate the closing of this deal, Fubo has settled litigation with a number of media giants (including Disney) for a $220 million cash payment.
