Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang reportedly said “the whole world would’ve fallen apart” if the company had a bad quarter
He’s right about the memes, that’s for sure.
Business Insider’s Geoff Weiss has some fantastic reporting on Nvidia’s all-hands meeting on Thursday, which came amid a significant slide despite the chip designer posting strong third-quarter earnings and a better-than-expected Q4 sales outlook on Wednesday after the close.
Per leaked audio procured by BI, CEO Jensen Huang reportedly said:
“If we delivered a bad quarter, if we’re off by just a hair, if it just looked a little bit creaky, the whole world would’ve fallen apart. There’s no question about that, OK? You should’ve seen some of the memes that are on the internet. Have you guys seen some of them? We’re basically holding the planet together — and it’s not untrue.”
Well, I can’t speak to claims about the world falling apart, but I can definitely testify to the memes of which he speaks. There were some excellent ones released in the run-up to Nvidia’s results, as well as in the immediate aftermath when shares were soaring. A sampling:
...and some that reacted to the eventual fallout.
