Alphabet agrees to buy Wiz in its biggest acquisition ever
Alphabet’s deal to buy the cybersecurity startup isn’t just back from the dead; it’s been signed. The $32 billion all-cash acquisition is the search giant’s biggest ever.
In a blog post justifying the deal, Google wrote:
“Both cybersecurity and cloud computing are rapidly growing industries with a vast range of solutions. The increased role of AI, and adoption of cloud services, have dramatically changed the security landscape for customers, making cybersecurity increasingly important in defending against emergent risks and protecting national security.”
Google and Wiz had been in talks for a $23 billion acquisition last summer but the deal fell apart over fears of antitrust scrutiny. It seems the parties are less worried under President Donald Trump’s Federal Trade Commission.
