Everyone is coming for Nvidia’s kingdom

Apple is working on building its own AI chip — a key building block for artificial intelligence — with Broadcom, The Information is reporting. The news comes just a week after Amazon fleshed out plans for its own AI chip. According to the report, the Apple chip, which has the internal code name “Baltra,” is for internal use and could be ready for mass production in 2026.

All this is potentially bad news for Nvidia, which has had a stranglehold on the chip market, but probably good news for everyone else, since AI-hungry tech companies have heretofore been tripping over themselves to obtain the limited number of chips Nvidia has been able to produce.
