Time to pivot to AI
In response to an Information article about Elon Musk’s xAI poaching engineers from his other company, Tesla, the billionaire tweeted that the move was meant to keep those engineers from being poached by OpenAI (which Musk helped co-found but has since left), which has been “aggressively recruiting Tesla engineers with massive compensation offers.”
The billionaire also said that Telsa is increasing compensation for its Tesla AI engineering team.
Salaries for such tech talent is already lightning hot, with companies offering million-dollar pay packages to scoop up humans with generative AI know-how. This pay arms race is happening amid layoffs in other tech sectors, making the pivot to AI more attractive than ever.
