Tesla shipments in China fell nearly 50% in February and are down in Europe, too
Tesla sales declined for the first time in more than a decade last year, but the company said it expected “the vehicle business to return to growth” in 2025. However, two months in, that hasn’t been the case so far — shipments dropped around the world in January. February isn’t looking great, either.
Tesla shipments in China fell a whopping 49% in February compared to the same month a year earlier, according to preliminary data from China’s Passenger Car Association, reported by Bloomberg. February new car registrations were also down precipitously in parts of Europe, including in Scandinavia and France. In electric-loving Norway, which is on track to be the first country to fully transition to EVs, Tesla sales were reportedly down 44% in the first two months of the year.
Last fall Tesla had predicted it would sell 20% to 30% more vehicles in 2025 — something that’s looking more remote by the month.
