Tesla’s European sales are back where they were in 2022
Tesla sales in Europe were down nearly 40% in the first four months of 2025 compared with a year earlier, according to new registration data from the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association. From January to April, Tesla sold 61,320 vehicles there — or about the same level as it did back in 2022.
Meanwhile, new battery electric car sales this year across the continent grew by 26%, to 558,262 units.
“Europe is our weakest market,” Tesla CEO Elon Musk told Bloomberg last week. “We’re strong everywhere else.”
Of course, Tesla sales are also down in China, its second-biggest market, so far this year, and leading indicators in the US, its biggest market, aren’t looking so hot either.
