Florida isn't a cheap place to live anymore, bad news for all the people who flocked to move there
Thanks to extreme weather, last year Florida's already high home insurance rates shot up 42%, averaging $6,000 annually.
That's just one more thing driving up costs in the state, as home prices are up 60% since 2020. In an extremely literal sense, it's difficult to keep a roof over your head in the state, and it's started to drive people away.
While the state has long been attractive because of its lack of income taxes and its cheap living, the honeymoon is over and it's causing anxiety for all the snowbirds and retirees who moved there.
