Microsoft to spend $80 billion on AI data centers

In a new 3,200-word blog post, Microsoft President Brad Smith declared this moment a “golden opportunity for American AI” and laid out a vision for his company’s plans heading into the new Trump administration.

Smith said Microsoft will be spending more than $80 billion on AI data centers around the world in FY 2025, with half that money being spent in the US.

After their last earnings call in October, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella noted that “capacity constraints” slowed the company’s AI expansion ambitions as “data centers don’t get built overnight.” The new plan provides a solution to the company’s scaling problems.

US plane maker Boeing delivered 44 jets in November, marking a 17% dip from October but a drastic recovery from its 13 deliveries in the same month last year amid its machinists’ strike.

Boeing, which closed its $4.7 billion acquisition of key supplier Spirit AeroSystems on Monday, has delivered 537 jets year to date in 2025, significantly ahead of the 348 it delivered last year. Earlier this month, the company said its recovery was “in full force” and it expects positive free cash flow in 2026.

European rival Airbus expanded its annual delivery lead in the month, handing 72 jets over to customers. The manufacturer has made 657 deliveries on the year so far, but recently cut its annual delivery target to 790 from 820 due to quality issues.
