Rivian is reportedly laying off some of its manufacturing team
EV maker Rivian is laying off about 140 employees, or 1% of its workforce, according to reporting by TechCrunch.
The majority of the cuts have affected the company’s manufacturing team to “improve operational efficiency for R2,” per a spokesperson.
Rivian is aiming for an early 2026 launch for its R2, an upcoming electric SUV expected to start at $45,000. Being significantly cheaper than its R1S, which starts at about $75,000, the vehicle has investors optimistic that it can expand the company’s customer base.
