A record $2.1 billion of crypto funds were stolen across at least 75 hacks and exploits in the first half of 2025, TRM Labs reports.
This represents a 10% jump from the previous record, set in the first half of 2022. The biggest hack for this period — and the biggest on record — was North Korea’s $1.55 billion attack on Bybit’s ethereum wallet, which accounts for 70% of total losses so far this year.
The stolen crypto funds just in the first half of this year are almost equal to the total amount stolen in all of 2024: $2.2 billion.
