GameStop jumps after Roaring Kitty’s tweet featuring the song “I Will Wait for You”
Shares of GameStop jumped more than 5% on Thursday following a tweet from Keith Gill, aka Roaring Kitty.
The tweet is of a clip from Futurama that shows the main character’s dog, Seymour, waiting outside a pizzeria for his owner, Fry. (Spoiler: the dog waits a heck of a long time.) The music, however, is slightly edited to play a different verse of Connie Francis’ “I Will Wait for You.”

Unity Software (ticker: U), another stock that internet sleuths have hypothesized might be of interest to Gill, based on other tweets, is virtually flat on the day.
Call volumes on GameStop have picked up. Outside of last Friday’s option expiry, this marks the most bullish options to have changed hands so far this year.
Despite the rise in the stock, the most popular contract for the day — calls with a strike price of $30 that expire on Friday — are flat, as the stock remains below that level with little time remaining before expiry. However, options wagers that would be in the money if the stock breaks that round number by February 7 have spiked in value.
February 7 isn’t exactly “a thousand summers” away, as Connie Francis croons, but hey.
