Apple says it never did any of the things it paid $95 million to settle
Last week Apple agreed to settle a proposed class-action lawsuit for $95 million, potentially giving tens of millions of Siri users the chance to gain $20. The suit alleged that the iPhone maker violated users’ privacy by potentially having their conversations heard by human contractors.
Apple didn’t admit wrongdoing in the settlement and has released a new statement pushing back on old rumors circulating since the settlement and clarifying how Siri works and what it does with data.
“Apple has never used Siri data to build marketing profiles, never made it available for advertising, and never sold it to anyone for any purpose. We are constantly developing technologies to make Siri even more private, and will continue to do so.”
