Vision Pro’s US sales to drop 76% quarter-on-quarter, per IDC estimates
Apple's Vision Pro is facing a reality check. Despite being the company’s first major new device in a decade, sales have stumbled. Fewer than 172,000 units have been sold in the US since its launch, according to estimates from market tracker IDC reported by Bloomberg.
More worrying, however, is that IDC expects Apple to sell just ~19,000 in the US in Q3, which would represent a 76% drop in sales, as the device’s $3,500 price tag remains a major hurdle to widespread adoption. But the Vision Pro's biggest challenge may be its lack of a "killer app" — its app ecosystem remains limited, with just over 2,000 offerings after 5 months.
IDC expects a boost from the international release of the product, and a cheaper model — anticipated next year — is expected to lift US sales.
