Meta to join Amazon and TikTok with advertising tools that convert images into video
Meta announced it’s expanding its AI-powered ad tools to include one that automatically converts images into multi-scene video advertisements with music and text. The feature, which is still being tested, is similar to ones that TikTok and Amazon are already rolling out. Amazon Ads’ Video Generator, for example, already lets US sellers convert an image of their product into a video of that product in use.
Meta’s latest Cannes announcement, which includes a number of other AI-centered advertising updates, is part of a larger push by the company to automate the ad creation process. Meta gets the vast majority of its revenue from advertisers, and most of those are small businesses that don’t necessarily have budgets for things like video ads.
CEO Mark Zuckerberg at the company’s annual shareholder meeting earlier this month:
“I’m into an AI business agent that delivers measurable results at scale. In the not-too-distant future, we want to get to a world where any business will be able to just tell us what objective they’re trying to achieve, like selling something or getting a new customer, how much they’re willing to pay for each result, and connect their bank account. And then we just do the rest for them.”
