Nintendo’s Switch 2 sold more consoles in four days than the original did in its first month
People were really ready for a new “Mario Kart.”
Nintendo says it sold more than 3.5 million units of the Switch 2, its first new console in eight years, in its first four days in stores worldwide. That’s almost a million more consoles than the original Switch sold in its first month (2.7 million).
The speed of sales marks a record for Nintendo, making the Switch 2 its fastest-selling console ever. It also puts the company more than a fifth of the way toward its sales goal of 15 million units by March 2026.
It’s good news for Nintendo and shows that at least the earliest adopters aren’t too worried about the console’s $450 US price tag (or its $80 games).
