Reed Hastings joins Anthropic’s board
Netflix cofounder and Chairman Reed Hastings was appointed to AI startup Anthropic’s board of directors. Hastings brings decades of Silicon Valley experience and clout to Anthropic’s board of directors.
Anthropic is a public benefit corporation, and its board is chosen by a five-member independent Long-Term Benefit Trust.
The trust members are “financially disinterested,” according to Anthropic’s description of the structure.
Reed joins sibling cofounders Dario and Daniela Amodei, venture capitalist Yasmin Razavi, and Confluent cofounder and CEO Jay Kreps on the board.
Hastings’ recent $50 million gift to establish an “AI and Humanity” research program at his alma mater, Bowdoin College, aligns with Anthropic’s publicly stated focus on AI risks and safety, as it adds increasingly powerful features to its Claude LLM.
