Tesla is making even fewer Cybertrucks now than when it first started
At an annualized production rate of less than 11,000, it’s a “commercial failure.”
When the Cybertruck first became widely available to the public — beyond high-profile buyers at the delivery event in late 2023 — in the first quarter of 2024, Tesla produced around 3,000 of the “apocalypse-proof” vehicles. In subsequent quarters it ramped up production, reaching a high of more than 15,000 in Q3 2024.
However, despite some clever sales tactics, Tesla hasn’t been able to sell as many as it had once estimated — 500,000 a year — and has had to wind down its production. In Q4 of 2025, well-respected Tesla analyst Troy Teslike estimates the company will produce a “very low” 2,666 Cybertrucks — less than it produced in that first major quarter.
“It implies an annualized production run rate of less than 11,000 units, confirming that the Cybertruck has been a commercial failure,” Teslike wrote.
