Google’s Waymo has now done more than 10 million paid trips, the company’s co-CEO Tekedra Mawakana said yesterday. That’s double what it was five months ago, with the company now delivering a quarter of a million rides per week.
Rival Tesla, which is still supposed to launch its paid robotaxi service in Austin next month, on the other hand, hasn’t done a single paid ride.
That hasn’t stopped Tesla CEO Elon Musk from bragging, though. On the company’s earnings call last month, he said, “I don’t see anyone being able to compete with Tesla at present.”
