Tesla’s first jury trial to begin over fatal autopilot crash
Today a trial begins over whether Tesla is partly to blame for a fatal 2019 crash in Florida between a Model S using autopilot and a parked SUV. While Tesla’s autopilot has been involved in a number of fatal crashes, the company has until now avoided jury trials by settling or having the cases dismissed. The trial is expected to last three weeks and its outcome could have big repercussions for Tesla, which is currently trying to sell the public on the safety of its self-driving vehicles and robotaxis.
