With $7,500 tax credit ending soon, Tesla is offering lots of sales
Tesla has recently turned up the discounts and incentives, Electrek reports, including offering $7,500 lease incentives, free upgrades, free supercharging for some models, free full self-driving transfers, and $1,000 discounts for “American Heroes,” which includes military, first responders, teachers, and students, among others.
The discounts come after terrible first- and second-quarter delivery numbers and ahead of Tesla’s Q2 earnings report next week, where analysts expect revenue to drop 12% from a year earlier.
Some analysts think Q3 might be better for Tesla, as people who were considering buying vehicles do so soon in order to capitalize on the $7,500 federal EV credit, which expires September 30. That expiration will likely put a damper on the whole EV industry.
Meanwhile, Tesla is ramping up its automated taxi service, which it launched nearly a month ago in Austin, and which CEO Elon Musk thinks is one of the company’s main pillars going forward.
