Ford to pause production of F-150 Lightning

Ford has announced that it will be idling its Michigan factory that makes Ford’s F-150 Lightning electric truck, citing weak demand. In August, Ford announced plans to pull back on EVs and focus on hybrid vehicles, which have become more popular as Americans hold off on switching fully to electric.

The Michigan plant will be closed for seven weeks starting in mid-November.

Ford just beat expectations with its third-quarter sales and earnings per share, but profits fell 25% to $0.9 billion.

Ford told Bloomberg in a statement, “We continue to adjust production for an optimal mix of sales growth and profitability.”
