Sorry Big Oil consolidation fans, Shell says it’s not buying BP

Shell is putting the kibosh on a Wall Street Journal report from earlier today that it’s in talks to buy its rival BP.

“This is further market speculation. No talks are taking place,” a Shell spokesperson told Bloomberg.

The initial news sent BP shares surging and Shell shares falling. Now, both stocks are leveling out.

Bigger Oil will have to wait.
